ANPR Automatic number plate recognition is commonly used by the police and seen on television but it is not limited to government organisations.
When surveying a new site we are often asked for a system good enough to read a number plate from the recorded footage, the reply is always to install an ANPR system. It doesn’t have to be as expensive as used by the police but can be many more times efficient than a recorded image.
ANPR may be integrated into an access system to open a gate or barrier allowing for rapid set up and not having to issue a code or proximity token, and of course the driver does not have to get out of the car.
ANPR is usually a PC based application, we have designed systems where the users wanted to keep a track of when certain vehicles arrived and left their work place, the client is able to produce reports over time which may be exported to external database’s and spreadsheets. The possibilities are wide and varied.
